MUSE Award 2022 - Gold


Luly Yang and Luly Yang Design Group’s (LYDG) innovative approach to uniform design breaks the industry stereotype about uniforms being stiff and unflattering. Amazon Air’s pieces blend a futuristic design appeal with global safety criteria.

LYDG utilized line patterns that are flattering on every body and merged brand colors with reflective textiles creating additional visibility and safety elements and an overall modern, sporty look.

Fabric and the human form exist in total symbiosis with Luly Yang’s multi-tiered uniform collection engineered specifically for Amazon Delivery Service Providers. This uniform was designed to make the wearer both feel good and look good; pride in the form of clothing.

With Amazon's three-month deadline, Luly's creations came at Prime speed: designed, approved, manufactured, and distributed to Amazon drivers in North American within a few months and worldwide in under a year. The everyday uniform has been recast in Yang’s vision — one that centers around elevating the human experience.

Alaska Airlines

International Design Award (IDA) 2022 - Gold

Luly's process started with connecting to the DNA of Alaska Airlines' brand. With help from thousands of employees along the way, Luly reviewed surveys, held focus groups and visited work sites to better understand the team's needs and wants in their workwear.

It’s this deep connection that set her apart from conventional uniform providers. She focused on modern approachability and embraced comfort and usability. The resulting collection represents the company heritage and Yang’s core values.

Climate Pledge Arena

Luly Yang revolutionized what it means to wear a uniform in her recent partnership with Climate Pledge Arena (CPA) as she’s created a sustainably-minded and elegant uniform collection inspired by the historic architecture of the stadium and Seattle cityscape.

Composed of tailored pants, vests, button-up shirts, blazers, and dresses — all made with 80% recycled materials — the uniform program aligns with the mission of the Climate Pledge Arena, which aims to be the first carbon-zero arena in the world.

Space Needle

Like the Space Needle in 1962, Yang brought innovation and modern styling to the new uniform collection. With pops of Galaxy Gold (the Space Needle’s original color), custom graphic prints inspired by the building’s architectural drawings, and nods to the structural silhouette, homage was paid to the fine details of Seattle’s shining beacon.

Garments were created for team members of various work groups: from outdoor and active valet attendants to operators of the 43-second elevator ride up to the famous observation deck.

Luly Yang Mask

At the start of the pandemic, Luly Yang was driven to aid in the PPE efforts for the local community. She began by sharing a 5-minute mask tutorial and homemade patterns. It was then the community’s request that she produce masks as well.

So, pivoting her business and with a duty to safety, Luly enlisted the help of her master pattern maker, textile experts, and technical designers. The NanoTech mask provides maximum protection with its five layers, including a heat-blown membrane for extremely small particle filtration and lightweight, soft outer-layer fabrics.
